However, its hard to do it the healthy way because unfortunately, there is little to no regulation on what companies can put in our products:
1938: The last year the federal government passed a law regulating cosmetics.
1300: The number of harmful chemicals banned or restricted from cosmetics in the EU.
11: The number of harmful chemicals banned or restricted from cosmetics in the U.S.
95%: The percentage of lipsticks that contained lead according to a recent lab test.
And to top that off, we have to deal with greenwashing (yuck)! Which means that even though something says it’s natural, doesn’t mean it’s so.
If you’re a natural beauty skeptic, I completely understand where you’re coming from. But let me ask you this:
No need to fret though, we can make a difference. So let’s vote with our dollars by putting our money towards companies dedicated to making safer options and with our voice by spreading the word about clean beauty to all our loved ones!
My story is not super unique on this journey, it’s like most everyone else’s except that I was hot on the natural + safe beauty journey for quite a while before I finally found Beautycounter.
I'm totally obsessed with safe, natural + clean beauty products. I had my beauty + personal care stuff together. Everything I used was super clean, safe, natural, and nontoxic. Life was great.
BUT . . .
I had some friends that were Beautycounter consultants so I kept seeing their social media posts online + followed the movement for a while. I bought a few products to try out and . . . WOW! Soon after, I finally made the jump to switch from lower quality, not as great performing natural products to some excellent quality, high performing natural products.
Beautycounter has a rigorous screening process for all ingredients.
Their color cosmetics are also batch tested for heavy metals three times before they become available.
The products are all high-performing, which means they totally work.
Beautycounter pays attention to ingredient safety, toxicity reports, and independent testing.
Advocacy is a huge part of their mission. So not only do they talk the talk + walk the walk, but they help advocate for safer cosmetic laws + regulations.
They are a B Corporation. Yay!
The easiest + most simplest way to joining the kind beauty movement is to purchase clean + safe beauty products. Yay! A great way to start is to Download Beautycounter’s Never List + compare it with the products you’re using right now. This will give you an idea of the products you want to swap our first, then you can switch them out for a safe, non-toxic version from Beautycounter.
Note: Beautycounter has a 60-day return policy and include free shipping labels in each package should you need to return anything. So in case you’re hesitant to try something new, you can try the products risk free. Literally!
If you wanna be a super duper VIP consumer, you can become a Band of Beauty Member! For a $29 annual fee, you will get a 15% product credit with every order, free shipping on orders more than $100, a welcome gift when you spend $50+, exclusive members only offers, and more!
If it asks you, make sure that “Taylor Thompson” is listed as your mentor.
If you’re looking for something super fun + well, ‘social’, you can host a Kind Beauty Social! It’s a great way to get involved, share clean + safe beauty with your favorite people, AND get free products! I can host socials in person (in the Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois areas) or online via Facebook! It’s super easy! You can earn free products, up to 50% off other products, and enjoy an extra special hostess gift from me!
Hands down the most impactful way to join Beautycounter is to become a Consultant. As a Beautycounter Consultant you can save 25% off your personal orders, earn some additional income, and be a part of an amazing community. I am looking for people who are passionate about the clean + safe beauty mission + who want to share it with others. By being on the Kind Beauty Team, I will coach you + help you reach your Beautycounter goals + dreams, whatever those may be.
Make sure you list Taylor Thompson as your mentor.
I love you + care about you darling. Even if Beautycounter is not right for you, I want you to use safe, clean, natural, non-toxic products because you are beautiful + deserve your version of a kind journey.
